Top 5 Books I Want to Read Before 2016: TOP 5 THURSDAY

Top 5 Thursday is a new series of posts I will be starting on my blog. Every Thursday I’ll have a list of five bookish related things to share with you all! I hope you enjoy this series and feel free to join if you would like. 🙂

This Thursday’s topic is Top 5 Books I Want to Read Before 2016. Believe it or not, this year is coming to an end meaning we all have to rush to finish up the books we wanted to read at the beginning of 2015! Here is my list:Screen Shot 2015-11-19 at 7.07.41 PM

  1. City of Bones by Cassandra Clare: I always hear about how amazing The Mortal Instruments series is, but I have never even thought about reading it (I know, I know, you’re all gasping in shock). But I am a book blogger/reviewer so I feel I absolutely need to read this series so I can finally join in on the discussion! This series is also becoming a TV show called The Shadowhunters in early 2016 so I need to read at least the first book before then!
  2. Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead: Yet another super popular book series I have not read! I have heard nothing but amazing things about this series and its spin-off series Bloodlines, so I can’t wait to pick it up next month. Plus, I loooove vampire books so hopefully this book won’t disappoint.
  3. Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard: The hype before the release of Red Queen was HUGE, but then the actual book came out and a lot of people hated it. I have owned this book since the day it came out, but I still have yet to read it. Even though I’m not super excited to read this book, it’s been on my shelf forever and I want to get it off my TBR pile!Screen Shot 2015-11-19 at 7.08.49 PM
  4. All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr: This is one of the biggest books of the year and everyone I know who has read it has absolutely adored it. I struggle with finding motivation to pick up historical fiction, but when I do I usually really enjoy it. The hype around this book is a little intimidating but I hope I will find the motivation to finally read this book.
  5. The Book Thief by Marcus Zusak: I have owned The Book Thief for probably five years and I still haven’t read it… I have no idea why!! I know this book is a modern classic of sorts which makes me want to read it even more. I’ll definitely let you guys know what I think.

What books do you want to read before this year is over? Have you read any of the books on my list?

Happy reading,

Emily 🙂

  1. I read the first two or three books of the Mortal Instruments years ago (not even sure how many books are in the series total anymore). They were good but it took longer than I would like for the next book to come out that I got disinterested in it. Wasn’t a big fan of the movie but I’m kind of looking forward to the TV show. I hope you enjoy the books! 😀

The Book Thief is definitely a must-read for all ages. It has become my favorite book of all time, beside Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice.
Red Queen is also a good YA Fiction read, and I’m so excited for the next book in the series. Contrary to what most people thought about it, I thought it was really good, and different, and most of all I just loved Victoria Aveyard’s highly visual style of writing.

    Thanks for sharing your list!

    • I can’t wait for The Book Thief! And I’m trying to stay open minded about Red Queen because I personally think it sounds pretty good. Thanks so much for your comment:)
